The clouds are fleeting away and the sun has come out saying ‘hasta luego’ (see you later)to the rainy season. But a strange phenomenon has developed as a result of it.
As the sun gets hotter when you are out on the streets, people make a bee line for the shady side of the street; and this causes a real pedestrian jam.
Adding to the congestion is that, in the older parts of the city, the footpaths on one side of the street are narrower than the other side. And you guessed it, it always seems that the narrow side of the street is the one with shade and full of people trying to jostle past each other.
So walking in the shade can be a problem at times as we manoeuvre around people; it can become an obstacle course.
